Great discussion about the mental health and addiction system. The core of the problem, of course, is that the system itself is not designed to be client-centered. It is, through more of an evolutionary process, and a lack of intentional leadership, system-centric. After transforming the system in the south shore of Nova Scotia, achieving the lowest wait time in NS, and achieving 2-3 years of positive news coverage (an indicator of public satisfaction), I wrote a book about how to do that transformation (and how advocates can effectively advocate for that kind of change). The book can be found herehttp://www.itsnotaboutus.ca. It, and I, are being used as a guide for transformation in several other provinces and areas of Canada. I would be happy to join your show some day if you want to discuss real solutions for a half hour. Contact me at[电子邮件保护].

Uncover: Dead Wrong

In 1995, Brenda Way was brutally murdered behind a Dartmouth apartment building. In 1999, Glen Assoun was found guilty of the murder. He served 17 years in prison, but steadfastly maintained his innocence. In 2019, Glen Assoun was fully exonerated.

Halifax Examiner founder and investigative journalist Tim Bousquet has followed the story of Glen Assoun's wrongful conviction for over five years. Now, Bousquet tells that story as host of Season 7 of the CBC podcast series Uncover: Dead Wrong.

The Tideline, with Tara Thorne

A group of 8 theatre performers mugging for the camera

Episode 82 of The Tideline, with Tara Thorne, is published.

Dartmouth’s annual theatre extravaganza Stages returns live to Alderney Landing this week for shows, works in progress, solo experiments, and all kinds of wild weirdness. That includes SHAKESPEARE’S TIME MACHINE by The Villains Theatre, a classically irreverent comedy by Dan Bray. Co-director Rebecca Wolfe and performer/producer Colleen MacIsaac are on the show this week to talk post-pandemic life in the theatre, their personal Stages picks, and more. Plus a new song from Good Dear Good!
